A Christian County judge has set a preliminary hearing date for embattled Kincaid Mayor Doug Thomas, who faces a host of drug and other charges. His attorney, Mark Wycoff, says he understands why this case is getting so much attention.
“Normally the media is not captivated by a class-4 felony drug case nor are they captivated by the violation of an order of protection. Obviously, he is the role of the mayor of Kincaid and that has heightened the scrutiny of this case,” Wycoff says.
Thomas will be back in court June 10th. He’s accused of having amphetamines on him while being booked into the Christian County Jail on order of protection violations. A jury trial could begin June 23rd.
If convicted Thomas could face up to three years of jail time plus 25-thousand dollars in fines.
