The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office wrote 16 seat belt citations, 3 of which occurred during nighttime hours. Other citations and arrests included 21 speeding citations, 1 distracted driving citation, 1 child passenger safety citation, and 1 arrest for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state for the Labor Day traffic safety campaign.
The program was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
