A pair of legislative committees has developed a plan to make Illinois a more business-friendly state.
The committees held meetings all session before issuing a report Wednesday, which outlines a series of changes lawmakers hope will make Illinois more appealing to businesses looking for a new home.
State Rep. Jack Franks (D-Marengo), a co-chairman of the joint committee, says the next step is to put these recommendations into a bill.
“The findings that we make today, I want to reiterate, are simply a start to the process,” said Franks. “We plan to build from them.”
Eliminating the corporate franchise tax and reducing the corporate income tax and filing fees were among the suggestions.
