Springfield, ILĀ  (WTAX) – A 35-year-old Lincoln man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for conspiring to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine. Curtis Kelly plead guilty to the crime last August and was sentenced in United States District Court on Tuesday. He has been in the custody of United States Marshals since December 2022.

At sentencing, the prosecution showed Kelly conspired with Darryl Verse and Richard Dinger to distribute 13 kilograms of methamphetamine in late 2022. Dinger is set to be sentenced May 17th and charges are pending against Verser and another co-defendant.

The statutory penalties for distributing methamphetamine are up to life imprisonment, up to a $10,000,000 fine, and up to a life term of supervised release. The case against Kelly is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement.
