The longtime co-owner of downtown’s Recycled Records, Mark Kessler, passed away Sunday after a brief illness. He was 74.
The music store, located at 625 E. Adams, was started by the Kesslers’ maternal grandparents, Joe and Ida Katz, as Springfield Furniture Co. in 1910, and then run by their parents, Wilbur and Grace Kessler.
Mark and his younger brother, Gary, started their record business from a loft overlooking the furniture store and eventually their inventory of music grew to over 70,000 titles.
Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Bisch & Son.
