A key Democratic lawmaker has signed most of seven subpoenas for former state officials linked to Gov. Pat Quinn’s 2010 anti-violence program that state auditors have blasted for mismanagement.
Legislative Audit Commission co-chair Frank Mautino says he’s signed five of seven subpoenas, including for Quinn’s former chief of staff. A subcommittee voted for the subpoenas Monday, but they needed Mautino’s signature. Mautino says the two subpoenas he didn’t sign were for officials outside the scope of a state audit.
Quinn’s Neighborhood Recovery Initiative has been under increasing scrutiny. Federal authorities have asked for information as has Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
