We learned this week Springfield deputy city clerk Nicole Cunningham used her personal social media to complain about the aldermen and use a vulgarity – “assholes” – to describe them.

Mayor Jim Langfelder sounds as if he would only partly take it in stride.

“I think it will be resolved,” the mayor told WTAX News. “I think what you want to do is stay focused on doing the people’s work. I think these types of things are a distraction; I think people will carry them out for days on end or weeks on end aor months on end. It really does detract from the business or the work that we are trying to do, the people s work, and that’s what I think ordinary, day-to-day citizens expect and deserve.”

The only person with disciplinary authority over Cunningham is city clerk Frank Lesko. As for Cunningham, a union rep conspicuously accompanied her to this week’s council meeting.
