The owner of Springfield’s Bel-Aire motel likely died of natural causes.
The family of Gopal Motwani says he died over the weekend at home in Naples, Florida. The Collier County Medical Examiner’s office says it’s not notified of deaths if it’s by natural causes, and it wasn’t notified about Motwani’s death.
Motwani, who purchased the Bel-Aire in 1986, put it up for sale in June citing health problems. He’d been under mounting pressure from the city to clean it up.
