In a part of Illinois which typically is split Cub-Cardinal, it’s all blue at roadside stands which have popped up to sell Cubs merchandise.

“It’s about time they get into the playoffs,” said customer Barb Chronister, picking out a blue World Series shirt. “My husband died, but I tell you what, he was a Cub fan from the word go, and he always said, they’re going to get to the World Series one of these days, and here we go! And I’m so happy!”

The woman running the stand did not want to speak to a reporter, and possibly with good reason: the City of Springfield said Monday it has issued no permits for such stands.
