Illinois state senators are debating a proposal to boost the state’s minimum wage and will take a vote even though House lawmakers have called it quits for the year. The proposal to raise the minimum to $11 an hour by 2019 won’t have any effect on Chicago’s decision to gradually increase its minimum to $13.
Also, the speed limit on Illinois tollways could be going to 70 miles per hour. Lawmakers have overturned Governor Pat Quinn’s veto of the higher speed limit for toll highways — even in more urban areas.
