In return for $1 million in tax credits from the state, one Springfield company has committed to move into a bigger facility and hire more employees.

Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity spokesman Dave Roeder says MorphoTrust will spend $3.4 million and hire at least 50 more employees in the next year.

“This is a serious performance based offer we’ve got out to them,” says Roeder. “They’ve made a committment that they have to live up to for capital expenditure, for job creation and retention.”

The company plans to move from its current west side location to operate as a call and customer service center.  MorphoTrust currently employs more than 100 people in Springfield.
