Energy prices to heat homes should be a little easier to handle this winter.
The national weather service says this winter’s weather should be more moderate this year and some energy providers testifying before the Illinois Commerce Commission say area customers should not see the wide price swings for natural gas that we saw last year.
ICC Commissioner John Colgan says this should be an easier winter for residents.
“We have a really good supply of natural gas this year. It is abundant all over the country,” says Colgan.
Ameren officials say supplies are in the pipeline and expect gas prices to hold steady this winter.
Ameren Vice President Scott Glaeser agrees. “We are very well prepared for this winter and will have steady prices as well.”
The National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration also predicts the Midwest will probably be drier this winter.
