Springfield fire crews were called to 1234 Ledlie Ave. just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Fire Chief Brandon Blough said the first reports were of smoke and fire coming from the north end home, and firefighters arriving saw flames coming from the front and side windows. They found nobody in the house.

Blough says the home is now uninhabitable because of “extensive fire damage” to the living room and heat and smoke damage through the rest of the home.

The cause is under investigation.
