Four Illinois Department of Human Services employees are being lauded as heroes after saving a woman from a house fire across the street from the agency’s Murphysboro office Thursday.

Office manager Angie Imhoff says it was not the morning she expected.

“We looked out the window and saw flames coming from the back of the home,” Imhoff says.  “Our receptionist called 9-1-1.  My co-workers ran out and found a daughter screaming her mom couldn’t get of the house but we got her out of the hose.

The woman was treated for smoke inhalation and is expected to survive.
