To hear the old-timers tell it, winters have always been this way, sometimes even worse.  National Weather Service Meteorologist Chris Miller says the old-timers are right.

“As far as we go back in our records, it’s been like that. Except for a period in the late ’70s and ’80s; we have some warmer winters and we have colder winters.

Miller says in some regards, we have been spoiled with milder than normal winters.  The 7-day forecast calls for more moderate temperatures, but the  long-range calls for another couple of blasts of frigid temperatures.

Don’t put your thermals away yet and remember you can tell future generations how tough you had it “back in the day.”
