A man is dead following an accident on south 6th street near Stevenson Drive early Tuesday morning.
Springfield police say David Johnson, 54, was walking across 6th street at the Stevenson intersection shortly after 5:30 when he was hit by a car going through the intersection. Johnson flipped onto the roof of the car; he was later pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center.
Police are investigating — the driver claims he had a green light.
