The city of Petersburg is under a boil order until at least Tuesday morning.
A water main on north 9th street broke Sunday; crews fixed it early Monday. Assistant water superintendent Brandon Sonnemaker says a lot of customers were shut off, and though service has been restored, water meant for consumption should still be brought to a rolling boil.
The city’s water is being tested Monday. The boil order could be lifted as early as Tuesday morning.
