Banners commemorating the 150th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s death were unveiled Monday near Oak Ridge Cemetary.

Funeral Coalition Chair Katie Spindell says if it was not for the dedication of one well-known citizen, the 2015 funeral re-enactment would ring hollow.

“We are here today because one of those extraordinary private citizens felt compelled to provide his knowledge and expertise towards this commemorative  event,” Spindell said when introducting Bob Vose.

Vose led the drive to raise money for the banners.

A re-creation of Lincoln’s funeral hearse is also being built for next year’s event.
