“Change” is a word the Darren Bailey campaign is throwing around a lot. The Republican senator and gubernatorial challenger – as well as Chicago’s police union president – say it’s time for change in the governor’s office.
Bailey, speaking at a police union conference in O’Fallon, Ill., said Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are soft on crime, and repealing the no-cash-bail provision is just one way he wants to prove, once he gets into office, that he has the cops’ backs.
Likely needing Democratic support in the legislature for any repeal, he said he wants to give everybody a voice and motivate citizens to put pressure on lawmakers to pass the things they want.
Lodge 7 Fraternal Order of Police president John Catanzara said Bailey is a truth-teller and a straight-talker who is willing to admit he is willing to learn.
