Gov. Pat Quinn doesn’t think highly of his opponent’s suggestions to close tax loopholes.

Quinn believes Republican Bruce Rauner’s proposals to end what Rauner called “corporate welfare” in Illinois shouldn’t be taken seriously. “Well, he’s a beneficiary of corporate welfare,” Quinn said. “So he’s a practitioner of that area.”

Quinn says he’s done work to close tax loopholes before, mentioning his support for the proposed changes to the EDGE tax incentive for businesses.

Rauner’s plan includes a promise to veto any deals on EDGE credits for one company, along with getting rid tax exemptions for racehorses, jets, and yachts.
