A new report finds that a Kremlin-linked social media disinformation operation that tried to interfere with the 2016 U.S. election has continued its work to divide and discredit Western democracies.
The network is known as “Secondary Infektion” and has used fake accounts, forged documents and false news stories to sow discord in the U.S. and other countries.
Researchers at Graphika, a firm that analyzes social media networks, said the network remains operational , though they say its efforts to avoid detection have hindered its own effectiveness. Facebook and Reddit removed some accounts linked to the network last year.
