Springfield, IL (WTAX) – A Springfield restaurant owner has pleaded guilty to several crimes in connection to loans recieved under false pretenses.

39 year old Omar Hernandez-Lopez of Springfield told U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen McNaught he started around June 2018 and continuing until at least June 2019, concealing the fraudulent nature of several falsified documents that were submitted to loan providers. One was for his Stevenson Drive business La Fiesta Grande and two for a private residence.

Hernandez-Lopez is facing no more than 3 years in prison, not more than a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and restitution in an amount ordered by the Court.

Hernandez-Lopez remains free pending sentencing.
