A Sangamon County Correctional officer has been fired over charges of sexual misconduct with an inmate of the county jail.
37 year old Andrew Beckham is charged with Official Misconduct and Custodial Sexual Misconduct.
Sheriff Jack Campbell says in a news release that each charge carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment.
Beckham turned himself in to authorities this afternoon and was released after posting a $50,000 dollar bond.
