The Sangamon County Sheriff’s office is warning of another financial scam hitting the area.
Undersheriff Jack Campbell says a man is calling random residents to tell them they missed jury duty and a bench warrant’s been issued for their arrest. If they don’t pay up by credit card, a sheriff’s deputy will come and arrest them.
The calls are coming from a TracFone and can’t be traced. The Sheriff’s department says it doesn’t know of any departments that conduct business this way.
