In the view of Interim Superintendent Dr. Robert Hill,  District 186 is long overdue in updating policies and procedures and believes the school district could be exposing itself to damaging lawsuits.

At Monday night’s school board meeting, Hill warned board members of the dire consequences.

“When schools lose lawsuits, those are the things they lose on; inconsistent practice or bad policy or the absence of policy.  I don’t care if you do it or not in the long range” warned Hill.

Board member Scott McFarland says he is frustrated with how long it often takes for the board to make changes.

Hill says he will make recommendations to the board on possible policy changes in the coming weeks so incoming superintendent Jennifer Gill can hit the ground running.
