A long time member of the Sangamon County Board is stepping down making way for new representation in District 2.
Sangamon County Board Member Todd Smith says he will resign from the County Board after 16 years of service.
And so the Sangamon County Board Office has begun accepting applications to fill the vacancy in County Board District 2. District 2 is in Northern Sangamon County and includes Williamsville and half of Sherman.
The application period will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27th. The vacancy will be filled by appointment at the June 14th County Board meeting.
