Remember Aaron Nichols? He’s the now-former Springfield cop connected to racist material on the Internet last spring. He quit rather than be subject to an internal investigation.
Even though he’s gone, the investigation continued, and the police department has now put out a report that says Nichols will not face charges. There is no evidence he committed a crime, nor is there evidence his racist behavior influenced his police duties.
The department says numerous safeguards are in place now to try to prevent anyone else from behaving as Nichols did.
