For those of you keeping score at home, the Springfield City Council will be busy this week.
A special council meeting has been called Tuesday before the regularly schedule Committee of the Whole session to take a vote on whether to release tapes of an executive session regarding Oak Ridge Cemetery. A judge last week ruled the session violated the Open Meetings Act and ordered the audio and transcripts to be released.
On Wednesday, aldermen will meet again to vote on Mayor Mike Houston’s proposed budget for the new fiscal year. Houston contends the budget is a maintenance budget with minimal increases in spending. A couple of amendments have been offered up to include increased spending and longer hours for the public library. Another would fund private services to investigate alledged wrong-doing against the city.
Tuesday and Wednesday’s session are slated to begin at 5:30pm.
