The Menard County Sheriff’s office says a Springfield Fire Department captain has been arrested for carrying a shotgun into a rural Athens home and threatening residents.
Timothy McEvoy, 52, was arrested at his Springfield home. Sheriff Chuck Jones says McEvoy owns property in Athens and was involved in a dispute with neighbors over accusations of trespassing.
A spokesman at the Menard County Sheriff’s office confirmed that McEvoy is facing charges, but declined to detail what those charges were.
