The Springfield Police Department is telling their officers to work with a heightened sense of awareness following the recent officer shootings across the country. Dennis Arnolds is the Deputy Police Chief of the Springfield Police Department and says if you hear anything suspicious going on, tell someone.

“We would especially ask the citizens if they hear anything on social media or just conversations of individuals claiming they warn to harm the police or anyone else in general, please don’t keep that information to yourself.” Arnolds said. “Please get on the phone and share it with someone. If you don’t want to call the police directly you can also call Crime-stoppers with that information.”

Crime-stoppers can be reached at 788-8427. Arnolds did say that the Springfield PD would be taking actions to help ensure officer safety, including not letting one officer respond to a call. He says their number one priority is keeping the citizens safe but they also need to protect their officers at the same time.
