Mayor Jim Langfelder and Police Chief Ken Scarlette promoted eight officers in a ceremony at the Springfield Police Academy on Monday.
Officers Brandon Golden, Eric Copelin, Michael Egan, William “Tyler” Woolsey, and Michael Vogel were promoted to the rank of Sergeant; Sergeant Scott Ligon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant; Lieutenant Joseph Behl was promoted to the rank of Commander and Deputy Chief Joshua Stuenkel was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief.
Sergeant Brandon Golden is a 16-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department. He has served as a training officer and a member of the Emergency Response Team. Sergeant Golden also currently serves in the Illinois Army National Guard. He is a graduate of Havana High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and a master’s degree from the University of Texas – El Paso.
Sergeant Eric Copelin is a 19-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department. Sergeant Copelin has served as a Neighborhood Police Officer and as a member of the ILEAS Mobile Field Force Team. He is a graduate of Waverly High school, and earned an associate’s degree from Lincoln Land Community College.
Sergeant Michael Egan is a 20-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department. He has served as Field Training Officer, a member of the Pro-Active Crimes Unit, and has prior military service with the Illinois Air National Guard. Sergeant Egan is a graduate of Ursuline Academy and has a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University.
Sergeant Tyler Woolsey is a 14-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department. He has served as member of the Pro-Active Crimes Unit, Boat Patrol, Emergency Response Team, Honor Guard, as well as prior service in the Illinois Army National Guard. Sergeant Woolsey is a graduate of Normal Community High School and is licensed as an EMT-paramedic.
Sergeant Mike Vogel is a 26-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department. He has served as a Neighborhood Police Officer, Traffic Officer, and as a member of the Honor Guard and ILEAS Mobile Field Force Team. Sergeant Vogel is a graduate of Niantic-Harristown High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.
