Thanks to a $45,000  gift, the Springfield Urban League’s Brandon Court facility  will be able to their upgrade technology for children that may not have the tools at home.

Each year, the Horace Mann Insurance Company selects a non-profit to raise funds to further education.  Brandon Court Site Director Candace Silas says the children who stop by everyday after school will be able to keep pace with those more fortunate.

“This is absolutely huge.  We try to provide a safe place for kids to come after school and provide whatever it is we can provide,” says Silas.  “This means so much to us.  So much homework requires access to a computer and this brings us closer to where we need to be.”

Horace Mann CEO Marita Zuratis says it is her intention to ensure kids have a safe place to visit for tutoring and perhaps an after-school meal.
