Tony Yannarell, professor of natural resources at the University of Illinois, says a new task force – co-chaired by U of I President Robert Easter – will examine “antibiotic resistance in production agriculture.” He’s encouraged by the diversity of the group, including researchers, producers, and members of the pharmaceutical industry.
Yannarell says setting the research agenda and thinking about how the research can be used to benefit society is where the task force would make the biggest contribution.
The Association of Public and Land Grant Universities and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges are behind this.
