A 16 year old boy was shot in the head and killed Wednesday evening.
Around 8:30pm Springfield Police received two ShotSpotter notifications in the 2200 block of East Cedar.
While officers were responding to the scene, a man arrived at HSHS St. John’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower torso. His injury is considered to be non-life threatening.
Officers were then notified of the juvenile who had been dropped off at Springfield Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.
The teen was pronounced dead at 9:20pm.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
