Three Springfield businesses that sell alcohol have been cited for selling alcohol to minors.

Club Station House, Obed and Issac’s, and the Barrel Head all received citations after allegedly selling booze during the commission’s monthly checks. All remain open pending the outcomes of their hearings.

Sue Hofer with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission says getting volunteers to pose as customers isn’t difficult and most have a personal connection.

“They want to be part of the solution and volunteer to help the state and the county avoid underage drinking,” says Hofer.

The volunteers, she says, come from area high schools and colleges.

The businesses remain open pending a hearing.
