One person is dead and another is seriously injured in separate incidents in Sangamon County over the weekend.
The sheriff’s department says Steven Mehundrew (pictured), 53, is accused of running down Alexandria Estrada,36, of Springfield Saturday night. The two lived together in a mobile home in the 1200 block of N. Oak Lane Rd. Mehundrew, with the help of license plate reading technology, was arrested about two hours after the woman was found in the road near their mobile home. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says autopsy results indicate the victim died from injuries sustained in the pedestrian vs. vehicle incident. Charges include murder, reckless homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident.
A Sunday morning shooting in a Springfield bar led to a man sustaining life-threatening injuries … and no arrests. The call came to the Third Base at 410 West Maple South. Police say the suspect jumped into a car with other people and remains at large.
