The Springfield chapter of the NAACP hosted a candidates’ forum Monday night and President Teresa Haley says the message that she hoped was being sent is that…..quit complaining and go out and vote.
“We are down to the last eight days and I’m telling people to pay attention,” says Haley. “If they are not being accountable, vote them out.”
More than 60 people attended the forum where they could ask candidates for State Senate, State Representatives and, those running for Sheriff questions directly.
Haley was pleased with the turn-out and says her group is even organizing a breakfast and then a march to the polls Saturday morning for early voting.
Most of the questions from those attending were about the Sangamon County Sheriff’s race and how candidates Wes Barr and Jeff Regan would reach out to the African-American community.
