Former Springfield police chief, Kenny Winslow has been named as executive director of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
The ILACP Executive Board approved his appointment Thursday after a national search and after being unanimously recommended by the ILACP Board of Officers.
Winslow has been the ILACP Deputy Director since January when he retired as chief of police of the Springfield Police Department.
The executive director oversees a 1,300-member organization of police chiefs and high-level law enforcement executives.
Winslow will assume his duties September 1st.
