A female resident of a group home in Macon County was beaten to death according to Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon.
58 year old Lynn Umphreys of Forsyth as admitted to Memorial Health in Springfield on Jan. 26 after being battered and sustaining injuries at the residence.
She died on February 16th.
An autopsy was performed and preliminary finds suggest Ms. Umphreys died from blunt force injuries to the head. The death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office.
