A group of business leaders continue to brainstorm ideas to further the revitalization of downtown Springfield.
City Economic Development Director Mike Farmer welcomes the opportunity to assist volunteers with the Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) in crafting a master plan.
“We are seeing a lot of empty spaces being retransitioned, repurposed and alternative purposes going into those and that’s the purpose of SDAT” says Farmer.
While not yet in a formal plan, ideas include movies on a regular basis at the Hoogland Center, mixed residential and retail development on the site of the former YWCA building, and continued development of upper floors of buildings previously used by the state.
